Where Carl Friedrik is ahead
The Palissy has more choice. It comes in four smooth colours, including navy, and five more in grained leather at the same price. Its main compartment takes a 16-inch MacBook, so it suits you if you carry a big laptop. Carl Friedrik names its tannery in Tuscany, says all its leather comes from LWG Gold or Silver tanneries, and lists the lining down to the fabric weight. A AED 350 Smart Holder lets the bag clip onto its suitcase handles, which helps on work trips, and metal feet protect the base. Carl Friedrik says Wirecutter recommends it, and it shows 4.9 out of 5 from 200 reviews. If you're in Kuwait or Doha, you can see it at Harvey Nichols or Salam.
