The 118 does more than hold a laptop. It has a padded laptop slot, pockets inside for a charger, cables, phone and pen, and a quick-access pocket outside. Grams28 makes it in three sizes, the 114 for 13-inch laptops (Dhs. 899), the 120 for 14-inch (Dhs. 949) and the 118 for 15 and 16-inch, and lists the laptops each one fits. It comes in three colours, with a smooth Nappa version too, and you can add hand-debossed initials. Grams28 names its tannery, Gruppo Mastrotto, and publishes size and weight. You can also see Grams28 at stockists in Dubai Mall, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Kuwait.
Where Emery is ahead
The Aegis costs AED 400 in either size, AED 449 less than the 118's sale price and AED 599 less than its full price. It's full-grain leather from LWG-certified tanneries, lined in soft cotton twill, and closes with a zip. The Regular takes laptops up to 14 inches and the Large up to 16 inches. Both folios come with a lifetime warranty. Grams28 says it charges for replacement leather pieces and doesn't cover shipping for repairs. Emery gives you 100 days to return or exchange the Aegis. Grams28 gives 30 days from delivery, you pay the return shipping, and a personalised folio can't be returned. Its returns page says the return cost comes off the refund. Its separate refund-policy page says refunds are made "less 10% for fees/expenses", and that Grams28 pays return shipping on defective items. Emery delivers free across the GCC. Grams28's shipping page says UAE customers settle duties and taxes with FedEx on delivery.
