Leather in Riyadh's dry heat
Riyadh's problem isn't humidity, it's dryness. Summer days pass 45°C with very little moisture in the air, and a parked car gets far hotter inside. Leather loses its oils in that, and dry leather is what cracks at the folds.
- Don't leave a bag or wallet in a parked car in summer. The dashboard and the boot are the worst places.
- Condition smooth leather every 2–3 months in summer, a little less in winter. A thin layer, rubbed in, then wiped off.
- Keep it out of direct sun at home too. Sun dries leather and darkens the colour faster than anything else.
