Your belt size is usually the same as your trouser waist size. If your trousers are a 34, choose a 34 belt. If you're between sizes, or you wear your trousers lower than your natural waist, go one size up. The most reliable way to check is to measure a belt you already wear, from the fold of the buckle to the hole you use most.

Three ways to find your size
1. Use your trouser size (quickest). Look at the waist size on the label of the trousers you'll wear the belt with. That's your belt size. For EU sizes, use the chart below.
2. Measure a belt you already own (most accurate). Lay it flat. Measure from where the leather folds around the buckle to the hole you use most. Compare that number with the chart.
3. Measure yourself. Put a tape measure through your belt loops, around where your trousers sit, over your clothes. Don't pull it tight.

Getting the fit right
- The buckle should close on the middle hole. With five holes, that leaves two either side to loosen or tighten as you need.
- The tail should reach the first belt loop, not past the second.
- Between sizes? Go up. A belt that's slightly long looks fine. One that's too short can't be fixed.
- Wearing it with a suit? Measure over the suit trousers, not jeans, as the rise can differ.
