Leather and hardware
The Prestige is made from vegetable-tanned full-grain calf leather from LWG-certified tanneries, with solid brass hardware and a brass zip. Full-grain keeps the hide's natural surface, so the bag darkens and softens with use instead of wearing thin. Our leather glossary explains the terms.
Ryoko's product page doesn't name the grain or tanning of the Wellington's leather, or what its hardware is made of.
Laptop and pockets
The two bags are almost the same size. The Prestige takes a laptop up to 15.5 inches in its own compartment, with three small inside pockets, a large outside slip pocket, a slit pocket and two pen slots. The Wellington fits a laptop up to 15 inches, plus a phone, an iPad mini and pens. Both come with top handles and a shoulder strap.
Design
This is where Ryoko stands out. The Wellington's two-tone leather (black with brown, or tan with brown) gives it a look that's classic and a little different. The Prestige is a single colour, black or camel, for people who want a briefcase that disappears into a suit.
Warranty, returns and delivery
Emery's warranty on the Prestige is lifetime. Ryoko gives two years for functional damage. Emery gives 100 days to return it and delivers free across the GCC. Ryoko's refund policy page offers 100 days, but its product pages say 15 days, so check with them before you buy. Ryoko delivers free in the UAE and prices delivery elsewhere by destination.
